On Friday 24 May 2019 at the Parmelia Hilton, Perth, the Industry Leadership Forum (ILF) held an event developed by Industry, for Industry, facilitated by leaders in the energy, resources and infrastructure sectors.
Ideal for industry operatives across all levels, from early career professionals through to Superintendents and Senior Management, the 2019 Forum was one not to miss.
For over 17 years, the Industry Leadership Forum (ILF) has provided a platform for industry operators to share knowledge, best practice and innovations to increase business and project performance.
The theme for this year was "New ways of working: Unique approaches that add business value".
As part of the 'Care' session, Laura Fruhen from the Centre for Transformative Work Design gave a 30-minute presentation on what can be done for the mental health and wellbeing of FIFO workers.
Following the recent research report on the Impact of FIFO work arrangements on the mental health and wellbeing of FIFO workers, the ILF Steering Committee was very interested in including a presentation in the program unpacking the report findings.
According to the organisers, several attendees mentioned that the biggest takeaways were from Laura's session:
"The opportunity to support FIFO workers in my team with some practical actions to support their wellbeing."
"The work done in identifying the means of improving the quality of the work/life balance for FIFO workers."
The Centre is thankful to have the opportunity to connect with industry to translate our research into positive outcomes for the FIFO community.
